The Old Fashioned cocktail is made by muddling sugar with bitters, then Bourbon or rye whiskey. The drink is usually finished with a twist of citrus rind and a cocktail cherry. It is traditionally served in an Old Fashioned glass, which is named after this very drink.
What you need to make the Old Fashioned
For the drink
- 45 ml Bourbon or rye whiskey
- 2 dashes Angostura bitters
- 1 sugar cube
- Few dashes plain water
- Ice cubes
For the garnish
- Orange twist
- Cocktail cherry
How to make
- Place sugar cube in a glass and saturate with bitters, add a dash of plain water.
- Muddle until dissolved.
- Fill the glass with ice cubes and add whiskey.
- Garnish with orange twist and a cocktail cherry.
