The Old Fashioned cocktail is made by muddling sugar with bitters, then Bourbon or rye whiskey. The drink is usually finished with a twist of citrus rind and a cocktail cherry. It is traditionally served in an Old Fashioned glass, which is named after this very drink.

What you need to make the Old Fashioned

For the drink
  • 45 ml Bourbon or rye whiskey
  • 2 dashes Angostura bitters
  • 1 sugar cube
  • Few dashes plain water
  • Ice cubes
For the garnish
  • Orange twist
  • Cocktail cherry

How to make

  1. Place sugar cube in a glass and saturate with bitters, add a dash of plain water.
  2. Muddle until dissolved.
  3. Fill the glass with ice cubes and add whiskey.
  4. Garnish with orange twist and a cocktail cherry.
