The Mojito is a famous Cuban original and is a very popular drink in summer. The combination of mint and citrus makes this an unbelievably satisfying and refreshing drink. When making the drink, the mint leaves should only be lightly muddled just enough to release the essential oils—you don’t want to shred them!

What you need to make the Mojito

For the drink
  • 40 ml white rum
  • 30 ml fresh lime juice
  • 6 mint leaves
  • 2 teaspoons sugar
  • Soda water
  • Cracked ice
For the garnish
  • Sprig of mint
  • Lemon slice

How to make

  1. Add the mint leaves, sugar and lime juice into a collins glass and muddle.
  2. Pour in a splash of soda water and add cracked ice.
  3. Pour in the rum and top off with more soda water.
  4. Place the sprig of mint on top and add the lemon slice to the edge of the glass.
  5. Serve with a straw.
